Well, you may be able to use castor oil, or some other synthetic product that is ';clear';.
That is mostly the reason they use the mineral oil, is because it looks like rain, because of the clarity of the solution.
And as long as the pump will pick it up, it will work.

try peanut oil it clear and has a very high combustion temp thats why its used in cooking
